Social Media Marketing: A strange question with no universally acceptable answer if you ask me. We can however say that social media marketing refers to an art that involves using sites, applications, and mediums used for social activities on the internet to market, sell or provide a product or service.
We are all aware of what social media sites are, and the number of people active on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram amongst several others are remarkable.
Why should we sell our goods or service on the internet I hear you ask?
Because historically, the market place was a symbol to any people, ask my friends from the east, they will tell you that on the Eke Market day, all gods assembled to boast about who has the biggest market, and who sold the most rarest of products.
You don’t believe me do you? Have you ever heard of the Silk Road Route? No? Google it, in brief, it was what made Marco Polo famous, it was the same trading route that the Khan Dynast of the Great Genghis Khan controlled it was the link between Europe and Asia. Now that was a market.
I’m sure you’ve heard of the World Trade Center, its importance can never be over emphasized to the psyche of a country and the economic contributions.
A world trade center is a symbol of unity for all persons, and irrespective of any affiliations, ethnic religious or language barriers, a trader will always sell to a buyer.
Social Media is steadily becoming the Global trade center, and with the kind of “Are you a robot” question that I keep getting, I am certain that sooner or later, it will become an intergalactic community, and I’m waiting for the day I sell my wares to a robot or an alien.
Now that said, Social media marketing can be said to be the marketing of goods and services to a wide range of people using social media sites and the internet.
